View Full Version : When does it feel?
ArmyGirl 09-17-2007, 11:16 PM Like its moving faster? I know this deployment just started, but it feels like its been forever. Its driving my nuts. Because I know it hasnt.
Anyone have any tips on how to not have it feel like its taking forever?:(
MelissaMc424 09-17-2007, 11:17 PM The first and last months always seem to drag by... for me anyway. Before you know it though it will be R&R time...
AshleyJ 09-17-2007, 11:18 PM For me it was about the midpoint. I just kept busy w/ school, work and tried my best to have a social life. And the few months before he came home actually seemed to be the longest b/c I was just ssssooo anxious.

I hope so, I know the first month is hard, and I think Im doing ok, its just feeling like its taking forever. Because while he was still here, it was like a month or 2 went by in a second.
TexasArmyWife 09-17-2007, 11:20 PM For me the first few weeks were really hard and then the week after he went back from R&R... now time is dragging by since he'll be home in a couple of months.

Keep busy! It'll help.

yay for real.. gives me some hope
Godders_Girl80 09-18-2007, 09:56 AM DB is from Drum and he's been gone almost 3 weeks now and it's getting faster but still a bit slow for me. Hopefully in another few weeks we will get into the groove of other stuff going on in our lives and the time will just slip by. I think that once Xmas gets here the time after that will go quickly.
=Mrs.AiNokeA= 09-18-2007, 09:59 AM For me the whole thing felt slow. :teehee Just gotta try keep yourself as busy as possible. :) :goodvibes
lacy+chk 09-18-2007, 10:03 AM Yeah I am trying, I clean a lot and I started back with my school work, which is gonna keep my busy for along time.
Haha...I cleaned a lot at first too...for me, after the first month, it was like, whoa, a month already? It did kind of go faster that I thought it was going. I think the last month will drag out too. I am just way too busy right now to think about it with school, work, internship, and keeping in touch with DF via letters, emails, motomails, packages, etc. :dunno
BrittanyJo 09-18-2007, 11:29 AM the first month is a tiny slice of hell, everyday feels like a month and you wonder if this is how it is always going to be. Then you start to adjust a little bit and realize that you have to take care of yourself and not dwell on it every waking second. STAY BUSY...even if it is a ridiculous task. Do the things you wanted to do but never had time to do.
Mak327 09-18-2007, 11:46 AM Does it ever go by fast? You're always going to miss him, and have days that drag, but other days might go fast. Just try to stay busy as best as possible.
Brittany Rashel 09-18-2007, 12:01 PM Keep REALLY busy... start a new hobby, start working out, get in touch with old friends or make some new ones, if there's anything that used to do (like painting, drawing, knitting, etc.) that you just didn't have time for when your SO was here start back up again. This past month has just flown by for me because I started my classes. :hang deployments don't last forever. :hugs
lissie398 09-18-2007, 01:43 PM Yea im hoping that when my first month is over i can finally say ...one month down..and then months will start to go quickly..I hate the beginning cause it feels like its goig to take forever but i know itll go by faster eventually...cant wait till R&R already..lol

ohhhh i hope its like that for me!!! i go to school and work part time, so i'm hoping i will be busy this whole 6-8months. I just got to find something to keep me occupied over christmas break:( He'll be here for the summer though :D
Kiser'sBabe 09-18-2007, 04:57 PM when I hit the middle point it seems to start going by fast.
cdmnavy 09-18-2007, 05:24 PM Well the first few weeks seemed to drag for me but then I got super busy with my rotation for school, work and hanging out with the girls. i make sure to spend time with family and friends, work a lot, find little tasks to make me feel busy (care packages, cards, emails etc) and not think about the numbers. I go back to school monday so I'm sure it will start going even faster once I start studying every free moment, begin a tough workout routine (LOL) and continue with my little tasks. I just continue to dive into tasks head first to keep me busy. I keep picking short term goals and when they come and go time seems to be moving faster. Instead of thinking about him coming home in June, my first mark was making it through my hospital rotation and that came and went so fast, next I start classes (monday already!) then after that I'll probably look at my school schedule and holidays. Short term things make it seem to go faster! Hang in there with everything. We'll all make it through!
hisbestgirl935th 09-18-2007, 06:50 PM Mines been gone about six weeks, and after the first couple weeks, time has flown. Just stay busy... It'll mean a lot to him knowing you're coping well, and keeping busy.

Try to set goals, plan a trip, have something to look forward to.. stay busy.. (how many times have you heard that one now? :lol)
I cross off the days on the calendar in the kitchen because it helps my grandma keep track of what day it is. I have found that when it comes to crossing out Wednesday, it feels like time has gone faster. Another week has almost been finished. I don't know what it is about Wednesday. It's my look-forward-to-feel-good-day :)
FC wifey 09-18-2007, 11:14 PM I have been through several deployments with my husband...The thing that has worked the best for me was to plan little trips through out the deployment...I would go see my family for a few weeks, even for weekends...It REALLY helps because you try to change your focus on getting excited about getting away...The time starts slipping by...Then i would count the paydays till he was home instead of each day. Those two things helped me SO MUCH!
