View Full Version : UPDATE preggo but empty uterus
Miranda 09-18-2007, 10:28 AM Okay, so for those of you who gave advice on what I had posted earlier, I thought that i would update you.
So after days of seeing the doctor, lots of blood tests, and lots of ultrasounds they finally figured it out......ectopic. My uterus is tilted backwards, so its hard to see my tubes and ovaries very well on a regular ultrasound. He sent me to the ultrasound room where everything is super high tech and she found the baby in my left tube. I had no risks or reasons to get an ectopic, it just happened he said.
They are trying me on methotrexate injections (chemotherapy drug). I had two shots yesterday and hopefully that will allow the pregnancy to reabsorb into my body from my tube. I have to be monitored for the next month or so to see how everything goes. If by Monday it isnt getting any better, its surgery time to remove the pregnancy and possibly the tube.
I feel alright about everything. Relieved that they found it before anything got too bad, and happy that my doctor was so persistent. Physically Im so sick tho from the injections. :( He said this will last about ten days.
Anyone else ever been through thi? How did it turn out? Thanks!!
brentscrystal 09-18-2007, 10:31 AM :hugehug My mom had one years ago... but didn't know about it until it was too late and her tube ruptured. She did go on to have another baby, even before the doc wanted her to.

Miranda 09-18-2007, 12:11 PM Thanks ladies for all the support. I am trying to be very optimistic about everything (which seems impossible at the moment). Im also keeping a close eye on my symptoms and how I am feeling. Thanks again for the support and prayers- they mean so much right now! xo

cheerkelly 09-18-2007, 12:19 PM I didn't have an ectopic pregnancy, but my baby stopped developing. So I had to take the methotrexate in pill form...and some other pill too. I can't remember which one. It caused me to "miscarry" the baby, as such. I bled, just like I would had I had a 'normal' miscarriage. I was sick, and my fever spiked up to about 104 during the worst part. That lasted about 3 hours or so. After that, I would get dizzy for days...maybe about a week after. I don't know how much had to do with the methotrexate and how much had to do with my body trying to get used to not being pregnant anymore but still having some of the pregnancy hormones left.
I'm so sorry you're going through this! It's hard, but I'm glad your doctor was persistent and found the problem early enough to make sure you weren't seriously hurt!!!
