I've got lots of apples and need to use them. I don't want to bake an apple pie.

I want to make an apple crisp but I can't find a recipe to make them. I know there's 2 in here but they have oats w/ them and I dont want that granola on top. I would like to be like a light, pie top kind of...:sigh I probably didn't explain that right.

You know what you buy in a bakery? It was that cooked pie crust on top. That's what I want to make.

Does anyone know of a recipe? I've been searching online but have only come up w/ the granola type tops.

I dont have the recipe you're after but I've had a surplus of apples too - I've been stuffing them with butter and sugar (and sometimes pecans or raisins) and baking them.

Thats SO good. I've also stuffed a peice of carmel in the middle with pecans. Very tasty.

I've never made the kind of crisp you are talking about. Maybe just make a regular pie crust but add some sugar.

You could make apple cobbler which is apples on the bottom a pie like topping.

Apple Brown Betty
Applesauce
Apples with a crumb topping
Apple Tart
Apple Ooey Gooey Cake
Apple Butter
Apple Turnovers
Caramel Apples dipped in chocolate
Apple Bread
(I don't have the recipies but they are all online)

Here is one of Paula Deen's receipies. No I have not tried, but it sounds good...

Apple Mixture:
10 cups apples, peeled and sliced
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 tablespoon lemon zest
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup golden raisins

Topping Mixture:
1 1/2 sticks butter
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
1 1/2 cups oats
2 tablespoons lemon zest
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cardamom

Vegetable oil or cooking spray

Combine all of the ingredients for the apple mixture in a bowl.

In another bowl, cut the butter into the flour and stir in the remaining topping ingredients.

Spray the interior of a camp Dutch oven with cooking spray or wipe with vegetable oil. Spread the apple mixture in the bottom of the camp Dutch oven. Top with the topping mixture. Bake at 350 degrees F by placing 8 coals under the camp Dutch oven and 16 coals on top of the lid. Continue cooking until the apples are cooked and the topping is brown. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

I like to take a 1/2 stick of butter and melt it in a biiiig skillet...add sliced apples, brown sugar and cinnamon and cook it until the apples are soft. Then I save it and put it over ice cream or white/yellow cake

i make apple crisp with a crumb type topping sometimes. you just mix bisquick and butter/margarine (softened if it's a stick) together until it's crumbly (not SUPER tiny pieces) and bake it like you normally would. there are not exact measurements, i just keep adding one or the other until it's the consistency and amount i want lol.

All you need to do for the crumb topping is mix together bisquik or flour together with margarin and maybe a little bit of sugar. Just mix til crumbly and then crumble over top.

You could do like a brown sugar and cinnamon mixture too. :yes

Try this, but defrost a pie crust, wrap it tightly around, and brush an egg wash over it then bake it.
egg wash: a whipped egg with a little water..
makes it shiny and crunchy!!

Thanks ladies for the ideas. I don't want anything that has granola or crumb on top though. I mean, those are good, but that's not what I'm wanting to make. I wish I could explain it!

I ate what I'm wanting the other week at my dad's as she bought it from a bakery. I asked her last night waht it was and she said apple slices. That might be it...

I can't find a picture anywhere on the 'net! I guess I will have to call that bakery and get a recipe :lol I'll take a pic when I'm done and show you guys what I was talking about...
