or a child with any of the autism spectrum disorders i'm calling you.

i've got to do a social science research proposal on autism (i.e. what are the effects of separating an autistic child in school? what are the effects of mainstreaming them? etc etc) and i would like to know a social issue you have experienced with your child. it can be something along the lines of how do your other children react to your autistic child or the time you spend with them? anything that is socially relevant about autism.

TIA you can PM me if you don't feel comfy posting on here

I would like to help you out! Honestly, it might be easier to talk to you on the phone about it, since it's so much to type out ;)

My son isn't old enough to be mainstreamed in school, but I don't know if I will ever feel comfortable with it. I would just be worried that the other kids were distracted and he was not getting the full benefit of the environment...
As far as social situations go, we've had some good and some bad. Thankfully, he doesn't understand that kids are laughing at him, he thinks they are laughing with him. If you need a specific story, let me know. I'm an open book!

I can give you some case examples if you give me more specific info about what you're looking for. I've worked with kids that really benefit from mainstreaming and some that are absolutely not appropriate for mainstreaming.
