how the hell do you resist the temptations to buy all the adorable little girl clothes and accessories?

sadly I didn't ha ha just kidding, basically if i wanted it that badly i would buy it the next size up so she had a chance to wear it rather then sit in the drawer forgotten about because she had a million other outfits

Its hard! Now that shes older its a little easier becaue she wont wear all the fancy stuff. She doesn't want to ruin it and there is no point in buying something that just sits in the closet.

Jill I have had to force myself to stop buying clothes right now. She has so many little outfits and gowns and stuff that She is set for about 6 months. But since I quit buying clothes I have noticed that I am buying other stuff like baby baths and diapers and wipes.

yeah. i'm trying to be much better about not buying clothes except for some things like socks because that's stuff she'll actually need and they get lost. diapers are a whole other issue lol, i love cloth diapers

Same here!! And I had to force myself to stop buying once we ran out of room :lol We now have half the closet full AND a full armoir of her clothes! And its about to get even more full once we get all her winter clothes (cuz for some reason, I got all of her winter clothes in 6-9 months at my shower, yet when she was 6-9 months, I pretty much just had he in a diaper all day cuz it was so damn hot! :puzz)

But you know what we do now that makes me feel better about buying her "new" stuff? I take the things she has outgrown that I dont want to keep and take them to resale stores for store credit (they are really picky, so everything is in good condition) And we just stock up on clothes for her that way. I have a box waiting to go right now actually, but I have no idea when we are going to have time to take it :confuzzle

Everytime we go to walmart we go to the baby section. I will see something I want and Tony says oh just buy it already. He went to walmart by himself before he left and came home with a winnie the pooh diaper bag he saw and thought I would like. So even he cant help himself.

I go postal with both my kids. I love boy clothes and girl clothes. I seriously have an addiction to buying baby clothes. I am not a shopper, I hate spending money but I will always buy the kiddos something :teehee Which is why I always have so much dang stuff they outgrow so fast :nutts Then I have to give it away or my closets get too full

Maybe only shop with a certain amount of cash so once that's gone you have to stop. :giggle Leave the credit cards at home. :P

My excuse is always "Well I need to stock up on the next size up" :rofl I also shop alot of the clearance racks. Like I got 4 cute pant and shirt outfits from the mcx here for Ash that are for 12 months. They were 4 bucks each outfit

I always loved buying my dd really cute clothes. With my son I could never find really cute stuff. My daughter is extremely girly, loves shoes and dresses! Girls alot of fun! My son on the other hand tries to wear his sisters shoes, and clothes. He likes to carry his purse! It makes my husband mad but it is all he ever sees.

Actually, I'm still battling it and Breanna is 6. There are 2 things that help me, making a budget and not wanting to hear John complain for 2-3 hours straight (this has happened a few times). However, I have found myself budgeting my little shopping sprees into our budget. So I guess that doesn't help that much. Good luck hun. I know how tempting it is. Part of me wants another girl just for the cute little clothes and such for them.

I'm a bargin hunter. I found this really great Thrift store that does extra 50% off at least once a month. They have the cutest clothes too. I don't feel so bad when I spend $20 and come home with 8-10 items. I let the grand parents buy the new clothes...my mom spoils my DD rotten. Also, right now she wears what I pick for her...I know as the years pass she is going to have her own taste. Until then...

I am the worst about buying my daughters clothes... I seriously should buy stock in gymboree. I thought I might share a little advice just based on a mistake I made though... I bought lots of things for my daughter's first year while I was pregnant. She was a big baby (9 lbs) and she has stayed in the 100% in weight and height. Needless to say she's 10 months and wears a 2t now and I had many cute outfits that were never worn because the seasons were wrong for the sizes... I've put them up in case we have another girl, but I was so sad she never got to wear many of her clothes even once. Anyway, my lesson learned and I thought I'd share :D

It's actually funny. I will go see clothes for both girls. Even if I go to the store for certain stuff I end up looking at clothes for the girls, I get to the point I put them in the cart and walk through the store. The whole time I convince myself that they do not need any more clothes and we dont have the money. WHen I had my first dd I was constantly buying her clothes. With 2nd dd I recieved so many clothes from my baby shower that she had more than enough clothes to last her 6 months. It was great financially but I think I have only bought her one outfit and she is almost 4 months. I know when it is time to buy her bigger clothes I will go crazy.

I still haven't figured out how to control myself. lol! Every once in a while I hear a voice that sounds like dh telling me that she has enough clothes, but it goes away if I ignore it long enough. lol! Just Kidding! Lately I have been buying bigger sizes of summer clothes (on clearence)since we will be in Guam for three years and it will be warm.

She rarely wore a dress until she was about 13 months. I found it easier to leave her in pants, onesies, or shorts for her to crawl around in.

Now that she can walk & it's been warm, she wears casual dresses a lot.

And like someone else said...lack of money :lol

You know what- If i was pregnant, I'd be broke. I just spent 150 bucks worth of baby boy clothes for my 9 month nephew at baby gap & CK.

Ahhhhh the temptation. He just got out of hospital so I had to bring home something.

I just saw you are Navy and wondered if you have seen the Hearts and Anchors line Gymboree just did? They clearanced it all out and I got my daughter several things from the line because it is so cute. I thought you might be interested in it so I checked their site and they have a handful of things left like bib overalls for around $8 and a cardigan, things like that... and shipping is $5.95 flat rate. Would be super cute for homecomings, family events, that kind of thing.

i did get some hair clips though from that line

well, there's only so many hours in the day that you can change a baby... and if your baby is like mine, she won't like to be changed often... and then there's the whole factor that they don't stay in one size forever and there's no point in spending ridiculous amounts of $$ on clothing that i have no idea how long she'll wear... so i ooo and ahhhh over stuff, buy a few things here and there, and pass up the rest. no need spending the extra $$ on stuff we really don't need

It's hard for me not to buy everything in site, but I have to keep reminding myself that Emily grows out of her clothes and shoes so fast, so I hold back and buy her a few new things per pay period.

I loved shopping for her when she was a baby and a toddler. There are so many cute little girls clothing :)

If you are interested, look at www.gymboree.com and they have some 3-6 months in the bibs, cardigan and denim jumper and they are cheaper than the actual store we go to. I never find the sizes we need in the store either... I do better online. :yes

yeah i'm not putting her in shoes until she starts standing. alot of the stuff i get is in a wide range of sizes that way i can justify buying the clothes lol. like some of the dresses i found on consignment i got in 6-9 months and that sort of stuff kwim?
