Becca 09-21-2007, 08:28 AM Congratulations ladies :) (L) flangl18 09-21-2007, 08:51 AM YEAH! Congrats to you all! I was really surprised they kept the selectees here out all night. We had some bad storms come through about 3 am. Hubby was having fun with them though..... KDMatthews 09-21-2007, 09:25 AM Congrats ladies, maybe now I won't be woke up by your hubbies marching and chanting on my street in the AM...(ok, not YOUR specific hubbies, but you know) MelissaMc424 09-21-2007, 09:39 AM Yep it's today, and and it's cold, so total change of wardrobe plans. I barely slept at all last night, but on the upside I had a really nice visit with his mom and grandma. I can't wait to see him in just a few hours.. I swear the anticipation is almost like a wedding or a homecoming.. it's crazy! Cat 09-21-2007, 09:40 AM Good Luck Ladies and I know you have waited for this day for a while now. Melissa what time did your DH make it home last night or did he even get to come home? oh and Ladies I cant wait to see pics of everyones DH's pinning if they let you all take pics that is. sunshyne 09-21-2007, 09:43 AM :yahoo Have a great day ladies!!!!!!!!! MelissaMc424 09-21-2007, 09:44 AM Good Luck Ladies and I know you have waited for this day for a while now. Melissa what time did your DH make it home last night or did he even get to come home? oh and Ladies I cant wait to see pics of everyones DH's pinning if they let you all take pics that is. He did not get to come home. We knew he wouldn't. He's at a very traditional command, their "training" didn't stop when the hazing thing went down either (granted it was their only scheduled "easy" week.). Cam freaked out of course because she's used to dropping daddy off for months at a time.. so she :tears all the way home from Coronado. We'll have a photo op right after sponsor and I pin him... Then a group photo op I believe when their hats are put on.. After that we'll be taking family pics and such at the reception. (just found out last night that my SIL is an aspiring photog and is taking classes.. :yay) Cat 09-21-2007, 09:46 AM oh wow so then I guess its different at each command if they let them come home or not. Well I know you are extremely proud of him Melissa and cant wait to be by his side and pin him. I think its probably the most proudest moment for a wife to be able to pin her hubby and watch him officially become a chief. I hope I get to do that someday for my hubby too. I was on pins and needles for him all night... too excited and nervous to sleep. I want everything to be perfect for his big day. He was dreading last night, but excited at the same time.. I'm sure you'll get to have that moment with Rob. Hopefully next year. Off to dry my hair now.. I'm up before everyone else so I can get crap done.. JulieM 09-21-2007, 10:16 AM Congrats ladies and your hubbies for making it through the training season!! I hope your pinning ceremonies will be remembered for many years as a joyful event!! The frustrations of the past 6 weeks will be a blur when you see your husband/SO in that uniform amongst his peers and the pride bursting from his chest!!! Enjoy your day!! rosebud* 09-21-2007, 10:17 AM I am starting to get :ohno dh didn't come home last night either, my dad said it was pretty fun, he quit around 5 or 6 but they went all night. dh called me this morning and was like well I made it. :giggle. I was pretty happy to have the bed all to myself for once. :teehee, the dogs were too. lol congrats to all of us for making it and not having to go into the mental institution :congrats to us. :hugehug MelissaMc424 09-21-2007, 10:22 AM I am starting to get :ohno dh didn't come home last night either, my dad said it was pretty fun, he quit around 5 or 6 but they went all night. dh called me this morning and was like well I made it. :giggle. DH hasn't called yet, I'm figuring they're still busy, and I don't plan on hearing from him until we see him. I had planned on being happy to have the bed to myself.. I spent the night tossing and turning. Who knew having him home every night for 4 months would make it impossible to sleep without him??? :nutts footstepswife 09-21-2007, 10:31 AM We are still here too, Dh has not called and I wont think he will, I heard from my neighbor who was with him last night and he is still alive, LOL!!! wb3690 09-21-2007, 01:12 PM Well we still have a long wait! Our pinning isn't until 4pm. At about 7pm last night our ombudsman came over to get DH's uniforms. Apparently the plan he and his sponsor came up with about showering at our house was changed and they are showering somewhere else now! haha........ I wish I would have planned today better though. I should have told my oldest to have his weekend homework yesterday so he could stay home. I'm trying to convince my youngest to stay home because he'll be a bear this afternoon and usually 4pm is prime nap time....soooo I might pick them up early. I'm going to run to the store, make dinner to stick in the oven and then sit around being excited. hbeaudet 09-21-2007, 01:22 PM well we are home now. it was awesome!!!!! congrats everyone!!!!!!!!! wb3690 09-21-2007, 01:32 PM well we are home now. it was awesome!!!!! congrats everyone!!!!!!!!! awww yay! I am going to the reception at the CPO club here after a bit. Rod went back out to "camp" this morning and PTd with the selectees. NikkiD 09-21-2007, 03:36 PM Glad everyone has made it through! I haven't seen my DH since Wednesday night and I don't expect to see him until late this evening. The pinning at his command isn't until about 6 PM and then there is the reception. wb3690 09-21-2007, 04:16 PM They do all of them here at Jax between 230 and 4 pm. I am going to the reception at the CPO club here after a bit. Rod went back out to "camp" this morning and PTd with the selectees. whenever J complains about the process here he says "well I could be at Jax with 500 billion Chiefs!" ahaha........I think he's glad he didn't do it there. Boyzx3 09-21-2007, 10:07 PM We made it. I got a phone call from his sponsor this morning asking me to bring his combination cover. I guess the ones the command ordered didn't come in. I got a call from my friend whos husband was w/ everybody last night and got a little information about how my hubby did. Our ceremony was at 1pm. The wheather was ok. It was pretty warm at first w/ clear skies but windy(we were outside). By the time it was all over, it was getting pretty cloudy. Afterwards, we had a little cake ceremony. My kids behaved pretty good. It was very cool and very emotional. I pinned one side and my mil pinned the other side. We were afraid to have the kids do it and them fighting since there was only 1 pin and 3 kids. When we left, we came home, changed clothes and went to an early dinner and walked the mall for a little bit. Right now, he's on the phone talking to his step brother. It's 9pm and he's still awake but he's sooooo tired. The thing is, his mom is here from California so he's trying to visit. He lost over 30 pounds. He won an award in February of this year. To see what he looked like then and now is amazing. Even the other Chiefs were impressed. Thank you all for your support. I found this site when we found out dh made it. It's been wonderful to come here everyday. CoffeeGirl 09-21-2007, 10:08 PM Congrats to all of them:woot:raise:congrats MelissaMc424 09-21-2007, 10:24 PM Ours went very well considering I was almost late since DH's command gave crappy directions. Got there, got a seat and from there everything went fine. We went to lunch with the family and then everyone came over here. He spent 3 hrs. passed out on the living room floor because he couldn't make it upstairs. Now he's coughing and says he feels sick.. flangl18 09-22-2007, 08:45 AM Eh, only 120 this year...haha. That is down by about 180 last year. But they pin the commands seperately. Just do induction as one big group. |
